Birth Doula Sydney: A woman and her partner in a birthing pool

Part of your birth team

Queens don’t queen alone. They have an entourage that’s there to keep their space sacred and provide trusted counsel. And that’s what I do for you. I’m not here to replace your partner (if you have one), but instead help you both make the birth of your baby the experience you want it to be.

Whether you want the full menu of drugs, a non-medicated water birth, or something in between, the birth you dream of is the one we work towards.

Getting birth-ready

Our birth-prep visits are tailored to your wants and needs. We might map out your ideal birth, create a personalised plan that’ll knock your care provider’s socks off, or address your fears. I’ll show you and your partner techniques that help you relax during labour. I can attend appointments with you if needed. As you approach the end of your pregnancy, you'll feel like the MVP, with a mind and body primed and equipped for birth, however it unfolds.

When your baby comes

Whether you’re labouring at home, or are having an induction or c-section, I’ll be there for you, whenever you need. I help your partner turn your birth space into something Insta-worthy (if that’s your thing). I bring the energy you both need—maybe that’s physical labour comfort techniques, dancing to 90s RnB, or feeding you pizza-flavoured shapes, I’m here for it. And when you’re in the throes of birth, I remind you of your choices, autonomy, and rights to consent.

After your baby has arrived, I’ll stay until you are comfortable, then visit you once you’re settled back at home for a birth debrief.

Benefits of birth doula support.

Women who have an independent birth support person (that isn’t a midwife, family, or friend) providing continuous support during childbirth were:

  • More likely to have a spontaneous labour

  • More likely to have shorter labours

  • Less likely to have synthetic oxytocin

  • Less likely to ask for an epidural or drugs

  • Less likely to be dissatisfied with their birth

  • Less likely to have a caesarean

  • Less likely to have an instrumental birth (forceps & vacuum)

  • Less likely to have a baby with low Apgar scores
